Yangshuo Bike Rides

Introduction

There are many good mountain bikes for rent. Typically these will cost 30 yuan per day or less. They come with a lock and an optional basket. Tandem bikes are available as are child bikes. Helmets are not, so you may want to bring your own. Cycling can be as easy as a couple of hours along quiet roads to more interesting and challenging routes through the countryside. Whatever you choose, you can be sure we'll make it informative and fun.

Easy bike ride

To Chaolong - When time is short, or for those who are less active, we can ride for 2-3 hours out of Yangshuo through the villages of Yima (ee ma) and Chaolong. This takes us along flat roads with little traffic. We won't cover much distance - most of your time will be spent learning about the countryside, people's ways of life and taking photos. We can extend the trip a little and visit the gentle Yulong River. You may even be tempted to take a Bamboo Raft downriver to a point where we can continue back to Yangshuo. (Bikes go by tractor separately). Otherwise we can have a meal in the village, or you can take a Cooking Lesson.

Moderate bike ride 1

To Aishan, Moon Hill and the Yulong River - On this 4-5 hour ride we exit Yangshuo by one route and return by another. Along the way we will use mostly country lanes rather than surfaced roads. Expect to get right up close to all aspects of the farming life and to get amazing views of our stunning mountains. You get the option to climb Moon Hill and to eat or drink along the way. You may even opt for a swim.

Moderate bike ride 2

To Liugong (with transfer back) - This ride takes you down along the banks of the Li River past the town of Fuli (on the other bank - option to take a ferry over and back) to Liugong. This can take as little as 2 hours but usually ends up taking more like 4 depending upon your interest. We can arrange to return to Yangshuo by bus or, more interestingly, by boat.

Advanced bike ride

To Liugong and back via Moon Hill For the hardy ... we take the same route as above but return by bike. The total time will probably not increase much as you will almost certainly complete the cycling more quickly. We allow the full day though so that you can stop and enjoy whatever takes your fancy. Climb Moon Hill for that bonus view back down and all around to see just where exactly you have been.
